Ministry of Energy:  Unprecedented increase in the volume of demand for oil derivatives and there is no shortage of them

The Syrian Ministry of Energy denied  that there is any shortage of oil derivatives in the Syrian markets in light of the current regional developments and the military escalation in the region, stressing that the oil derivatives market is witnessing stability so far, but the volume of demand has recently increased significantly.

The ministry said in a statement today: There is no shortage of oil derivatives, whether gasoline, diesel or domestic gas, noting that the operating refineries continue to perform their tasks normally, and crude oil import contracts are in place through approved channels, and the quantities are refined according to the usual operational programs, and the operational stock is within safe limits.

She explained that the congestion witnessed by some gas stations during the past hours is a result of an unprecedented increase in the volume of demand, as the sales rate exceeded 300% compared to the normal daily average, as a result of fear of regional developments and the spread of rumors, and not due to an actual shortage of the material.

In addition, the Ministry of Energy confirmed that it follows up on regional developments on a daily and proactive basis, and takes the necessary measures to ensure the continuity of basic services, calling on citizens to obtain information from official sources and not to be dragged into rumors that may lead to undue pressure on the distribution system.

It is noteworthy that some pages on social media published news indicating that there is a shortage of oil derivatives at the plants, which the Ministry of Energy denied.
