
Ministry of Energy: Operation of a 100 MW power plant at the Maharda plant after a 10-year hiatus

The Syrian Ministry of Energy announced the restart of an electric generating complex at the Maharda thermal plant in Hama governorate, with a capacity of 100 megawatts, after a hiatus of more than ten years, following the completion of maintenance and rehabilitation works by national cadres.
During a field tour of the plant, Minister of Energy Mohammed al-Bashir confirmed that this step enhances the production capacity and improves the stability of the electricity supply, pointing to the continuation of the plan to rehabilitate the electrical system based on Syrian expertise.
Minister Al-Bashir praised the efforts of the workers at the plant and their role in performing their duties and the efforts made by the technical teams that completed the restart process despite the challenges.
The Maharda Thermal Plant is one of the important generating stations in the central region, and the operation of the generating group in it comes within the Ministry of Energy's plan to rehabilitate the stopped generating groups and raise the readiness of the electrical system based on Syrian expertise.
