
Minister of Interior discusses joint coordination on security issues with European delegation

Interior Minister Anas Khattab discussed with a diplomatic delegation from the European Union led by the Chargé d'Affaires of the European Union Mission to Syria Mikhail Unmacht, accompanied by Political Advisor Torkeld Beg, ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and develop joint coordination mechanisms on priority security issues.
The meeting discussed in depth the paths to support security sector reform, with a focus on developing the civil security system, raising the efficiency of police training programs, and enhancing the capabilities of border management and protection, in line with the requirements of the transitional period, and contribute to consolidating stability and the rule of law in accordance with international best practices.
The meeting was attended by the Assistant Minister for Human Resources Affairs and the Director of the International Cooperation Department, within the framework of a government approach aimed at strengthening international partnerships.
Training of the first batch of female members of the Women's Police Institute
The Women's Police Institute at the Ministry of Interior has started implementing the training plan planned for female members of the Institute's Police Personnel Course, which includes intensive programs in military and physical rehabilitation.
The Ministry of Interior explained on its Telegram channel on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, that the Rehabilitation and Training Department, represented by the Women's Police Institute, received the first batch of female members of the Women's Police Officers' Course, amid integrated organizational procedures and an atmosphere full of discipline and commitment.
The Ministry confirmed that immediately after the completion of the reception procedures, the planned training plan began, which includes intensive programs in military and physical rehabilitation to raise the level of fitness and field readiness, parallel to a package of legal and police sciences to ensure the performance of tasks in accordance with legal and professional frameworks, with a focus on the skills of dealing and controlling behavior in line with the specificity of women's security work.
Providing the Internal Security Forces with this new batch comes as an embodiment of the Ministry of Interior's strategy to enhance the role of Syrian women in the security system, and to provide the various units and sectors with qualified female cadres capable of assuming responsibility and contributing effectively to maintaining security and public order, in line with the requirements of field work.
