Luis Suarez out of the 2026 World Cup. Get to know the Uruguay national team final roster?

Uruguay head coach Marcelo Bielsa has announced  the team's final squad for the 2026 World Cup.

The Uruguay squad included 26 players, and in a big surprise, it saw the absence of veteran star Luis Suarez of Inter Miami, for the first time since the 2006 World Cup.

Leading the list of Uruguay are illustrious names such as Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde, Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo and Atletico Madrid defender José Maria Jimenez.

Missing from the list is Nahitan Nandez, a current player for Saudi club Al-Qadisiyah, who regularly participated with the Uruguayan national team in South American qualifying matches.

Goalkeepers: Fernando Muslera (Estudiantes de la Plata), Sergio Rocher (Internacional de Porto Alegre), Santiago Meli (Monterrey).

Defenders: Ronald Araujo (Barcelona), José María Jimenez (Atletico Madrid), Santiago Bueno (Wolverhampton), Sebastián Cáceres (Club America), Matias Oliveira (Napoli), Guillermo Varela (Flamengo), Matias Venha (River Plate), Joaquín Piqueraz (Palmeiras), Juan Manuel Sanabria (Real Salt Lake).

Midfielders: Federico Valverde (Real Madrid), Rodrigo Bentancur (Tottenham Hotspur), Manuel Ugarte (Manchester United), Emiliano Martinez (Palmeiras), Rodrigo Zalazar (Sporting de Portugal), Giorgian de Arrascaeta (Flamengo), Nicolás de la Cruz (Flamengo), Agustín Canopbio (Fluminense), Maximiliano Araujo (SportingG Lisbon), Bryan Rodriguez (Club America), Facundo Pellistri (Panathinaikos).

Forwards: Darwin Nunez (Al-Hilal), Federico Vinas (Real Oviedo), Rodrigo Aguirre (Tigres).

Uruguay matches in Group H

Uruguay will play its first match on June 15 against Saudi Arabia, then return to competition on June 21 against Cape Verde, and conclude this first stage on June 26 with a difficult match against Spain.
