Local Production Development and Support Authority: Syrian exports exceed $2 billion in 2025

The director of the Local Production and Export Development and Support Authority, Manhal Al-Fares, revealed that Syria's exports recorded during the year 2025 exceeded $2 billion.

Al-Fares explained in a statement to the Syrian newspaper Al-Thawra published on Tuesday that  the percentage of oil exports did not exceed 10% of the total, while the combined percentage of oil and phosphates together reached only about 13%, which shows their limited share compared to pre-2011 rates as a result of the major challenges faced by production.

Al-Fares pointed out that agricultural and food products, olive oil, vegetables, fruits, and textiles still occupy an advanced position in the list of exported items, and some manufacturing and food industries, as well as raw materials and mineral products, in which Syria has important competitive advantages.

Reliance on Arab and regional markets

Al-Fares pointed out that Syrian exports are mainly directed to the markets of Arab and regional countries, especially Iraq, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey, in addition to a number of European, Asian and African markets.

The Director of the Authority for Development stressed that the Authority is entering the next phase with an integrated vision that aims to move from the concept of traditional export support to the comprehensive development of national export capacity.

He explained that what is required today is not limited to increasing the number of exports, but also to raise the readiness of the Syrian product to compete in foreign markets, expand the base of exporters, open new markets, and develop the services provided to them.

He said:  "The Authority is working to complete the construction of a modern digital system to serve exporters, foremost of which is the National Electronic Export Register, in addition to enhancing participation in international exhibitions, organizing trade missions, and building partnerships with counterpart bodies and institutions in brotherly and friendly countries, in a way that contributes to increasing the presence of Syrian products in foreign markets."

International exhibitions are a window to promote the Syrian product

In a previous press interview, Al-Fares confirmed that the Authority is working to organize and support international exhibitions outside Syria, with continuous coordination with the General Organization for Exhibitions and International Markets, expecting great success for the upcoming exhibitions in Damascus with continued coordination with the International Bureau for Arab Alliances and international groups, especially in Africa, with the aim of opening new markets for the Syrian product.

Al-Fares said: All this is being done in cooperation with the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Economy and Industry, and the General Organization for Exhibitions, revealing plans to establish new lands for exhibitions in Aleppo and some provinces such as Homs to enhance the infrastructure to host international exhibitions.

Comprehensive Export Support Strategy

Al-Fares explained that these efforts come as part of a strategy to enhance coordination between the concerned authorities, including the Union of Arab Exporters and Importers, the Ministry of Economy and Industry, and the Federation of Industry, to ensure the follow-up of all commercial transactions and the implementation of projects related to import and export effectively.

He pointed out that the coming year is expected to witness a greater increase in the value of Syrian exports thanks to the continuous development and expansion of international exhibitions and markets.

He pointed out the importance of close cooperation with the regional office of the Union of Arab Exporters and Importers, stressing its role in empowering and representing the Syrian government, supervising and coordinating import and export affairs, and encouraging international trade.
