Liverpool announce the departure of French defender Ibrahima Konate

Liverpool FC has announced the departure of its French international defender Ibrahima Konate at the end of the current season, bringing down the curtain on a five-year career in the Reds shirt.
The English club said, in an official statement on its digital platforms, that Konate's contract will reach its end this summer, stressing its great appreciation for what the player has provided throughout his time at Anfield.
Konate expressed gratitude and emotion at bidding farewell to the club, saying that he joined Liverpool five years ago as a young player full of ambition, and today he leaves with memories and experiences that will accompany him throughout his football career.
The French defender joined Liverpool in the summer of 2021 from RB Leipzig and has established himself as one of the key elements in the backline, making 183 appearances in various competitions.
During his career with the Reds, Konate contributed to several trophies, most notably the FA Cup in his first season, as well as the FA Cup, under German coach Jurgen Klopp.
Pending the official announcement of his next destination, Konate's departure remains a milestone in Liverpool's path this summer, as part of a series of changes expected in the squad in preparation for upcoming seasons.
Liverpool sack coach after zero season
Liverpool sacked Arne Slott, the coach of the Dutch first team, after two seasons at Anfield, after the team failed to defend the Premier League title.
The decision came after the defending champions slipped to fifth place in the Premier League with just 60 points, and failed to achieve any domestic championship, despite spending more than £400 million on high-profile deals that did not provide the expected addition, such as Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz.
Pressures within the club have worsened as disputes escalated in the dressing rooms, most notably Mohamed Salah's public criticism of the coach's style of play before his departure from Anfield, as well as the harsh conditions the team went through after the shocking death of Diogo Jota last summer, which the management praised Slott's humane handling of it.
Coaches nominated to succeed Slot
Liverpool's management moved remarkably quickly following the decision to sack Arne Slott, shortlisting three candidates to start negotiations with immediately, along with some of the biggest names in the background that have not yet been officially on the track, according to media reports.
Sources at the club said that Andoni Iraola, the former Bournemouth manager, who is considered the first choice for the management and has the strong support of sporting director Richard Hughes, who has previously signed him at Bournemouth, indicates that an agreement with him is very close. He is followed by Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeness, who caught the eye after leading the team to qualification for the Champions League with an attacking style based on high pressure and possession. Pierre Sage, the French coach of Lens, has also entered the list as a distinct tactical option His success in local competitions.
In the background, other names have emerged that have been linked to the discussion table but are not on the official list, most notably Jurgen Klopp, who was approached by management to consult on the transition, although his return is difficult due to his current position at Red Bull.
Oliver Glassner's name, who is currently available after his departure from Crystal Palace, has also been put forward, along with legend Steven Gerrard, who remains an emotional option that some are counting on to bring enthusiasm back to Anfield.
