Lebanese President Appeals to Israel to Seek Dialogue Instead of War

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Monday made a  public appeal to the Israeli   government and people in an interview broadcast by CNN on Monday, saying that "military solutions will not provide you with safety and security for the residents of the north."

Aoun added, "We are ready, committed and willing, are you? If you are, let's sit down and talk.If you are not willing, we will not live in safety and security."

Aoun stressed that he would not meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu before reaching an agreement to end the war, which he described as a "non-aggression agreement, security agreement or otherwise" rather than a comprehensive peace agreement, adding that there is a need to "end the state of hostility between Lebanon and Israel once and for all, and this could be a prelude to a just and comprehensive peace."
