Jordanian exports to Syria jump by 47% at the beginning of 2026

The value of Jordanian exports to the northern neighbor in January amounted to about 28 million dinars (equivalent to $39.4 million), recording an increase of 47.4% compared to the same period in 2025.

This boom comes as a continuation of an upward trajectory that began last year, as the volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached 334 million dinars, compared to only 116 million dinars in 2024, bringing the levels of exchange closer to the pre-2011 era.

Field Action: Joint Business Council

As part of translating these figures into institutional reality, the head of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Khalil al-Haj Tawfiq, announced in a statement to the Jordan News Agency "Petra" that he will visit Syria next week to coordinate with the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce to form the "Jordanian-Syrian Joint Business Council."

According to  Tawfik, this step aims to keep pace with official trends and open wider horizons for the private sector to take advantage of reconstruction and logistics opportunities.

Outputs of the Higher Coordination Council: 9 Agreements and 21 Sectors

Syrian-Jordanian relations entered the stage of "institutional integration" following the meetings of the High Coordination Council, which were described as "the largest in the history of bilateral relations" with the participation of more than 30 ministers from both sides.

The meetings resulted in the signing of 9 memorandums of understanding: including the sectors of media, development, health, higher education, endowments, tourism, post, and justice.

These economic moves coincide with news that the OPEC Fund for International Development is considering providing $500 million in financing to Syria before the end of the year, directed to the infrastructure and energy sectors, enhancing the chances of success of Jordanian-Syrian agreements in the fields of transport and logistics related to reconstruction.
