Jordan: Our relations with Syria are at their best and we reject any interference in its affairs

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi stressed that relations between Jordan and Syria are in one of their best stages in years, with the level of political, security, military and economic coordination rising to unprecedented levels.
In an interview with Saudi Arabia's television, Safadi said that he recently visited Damascus accompanied by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Director of General Intelligence, where he held a lengthy meeting with President Ahmed al-Sharaa as part of a comprehensive strategic dialogue, where the talks focused on confronting the smuggling of drugs and weapons across the border, and confronting the threat of ISIS and terrorist organizations, within the framework of escalating security cooperation between the two countries.
He added that the discussions were not limited to the security aspect, as the two parties discussed expanding economic cooperation and activating joint projects, in order to pave the way for building a strategic partnership that benefits both countries, considering that Syria is going through a sensitive restructuring phase, and that Jordan stands by it and supports its efforts in accordance with the directives of the King and with the best of its capabilities.
He stressed that the stability of Syria is an integral part of the stability of Jordan and the region, especially with the existence of a common border that extends for386 km and deep historical ties, and considered that Syria's success in overcoming the challenges of the current stage will reflect positively on everyone.
Within the framework of strengthening cooperation, Safadi announced preparations for the second meeting of the Supreme Coordination Council between the two countries, pointing to expert meetings currently being held in preparation for an upcoming ministerial meeting, amid full consensus to expand cooperation in the economic, security and military fields.
In another context, Safadi condemned the repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, stressing Jordan's rejection of any external interference in Syrian affairs.
He warned that the continuation of these violations threatens the stability of the region and pushes it towards further escalation, at a time when the Syrian government seeks to rebuild the state, calm the situation and respect international agreements, stressing that these attacks undermine the efforts made, which calls for international action to stop them.
