Jeddah summit directs the construction of oil pipelines and an anti-missile warning system

The Gulf Consultative Summit in Jeddah on Tuesday evening quickly directed the establishment of an oil and gas pipeline project and an early warning system against ballistic missiles, stressing the rejection of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which is vital in the global energy transition.

This came in a media statement by the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassim Al-Budaiwi, hours after the end of a Gulf consultative summit held in Jeddah, western Saudi Arabia, in the presence of the leaders of Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and the UAE Foreign Minister, without clarifying whether the Sultanate of Oman would participate or not.

Al-Budaiwi explained that in response to the invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries held their nineteenth consultative meeting, chaired by Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, in the city of Jeddah.

The participants expressed their categorical rejection of Iran's illegal measures to close the Strait of Hormuz, obstruct navigation in it, and threaten its security.

The participants directed to "accelerate the start of taking steps towards the establishment of an oil and gas pipeline project, as well as the project of water linkage between the GCC countries, and to accelerate the completion of the project of the early warning system against ballistic missiles."
