
Italy's Como achieves historic achievement and qualifies for the Champions League

Italian side Como achieved a historic achievement by qualifying for the Champions League for the first time, after beating its host Cremonese 4-1 on Sunday at the Giovanni Zini Stadium in the final round of the Italian football league.
With this result, Como raised his tally to 71 points and advanced to fourth place, to book the last qualifying seats for next season's Champions League, while Cremonese's balance was frozen at 34 points in 18th place, relegating after just one season in Serie A.
Cesc Fabregas' side ended the first half with an unanswered goal scored by Spain's Jesús Rodriguez in the 36th minute with a powerful right-footed shot from outside the box into the top right corner after a quick counter-attack.
In the second half, Greek Anastasios Dovikas doubled the score for Como in the 51st minute, but Cremonese reduced the deficit after just 4 minutes through Federico Bonazzoli from the penalty spot.
Captain Lucas da Cunha established himself as the star of the match by scoring a crucial brace in the 74th and 81st minutes, securing a historic victory that moved the club into the ranks of the European elite.
Juventus out of the Champions League
In other matches, Roma beat relegated Hellas Verona with two unanswered goals scored by Dutchman Donel Malin and substitute Stefan El Shaarawy in the 56th and 90+3rd minutes.
