Israeli Reports: Arab Leaders Demand Trump to Reconsider His Support for Netanyahu

Israeli media reports have reported that there are intense Arab diplomatic moves aimed at persuading US President Donald Trump to reconsider his unequivocal support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, at a time of growing regional discontent with current Israeli policies.

In a report, the Israeli broadcaster Kan  revealed that a number of Arab leaders informed US President Donald Trump, during private discussions and conversations, of the need to review his position in support of Netanyahu, considering that the continuation of his current policy constitutes a real "obstacle" to achieving Washington's vision of regional peace and stability in the Middle East.

The Hebrew newspaper Haaretz, citing Arab diplomats familiar with the discussions, stressed that governments in the region are increasingly viewing the Israeli prime minister and his right-wing government as the main obstacle to any diplomatic ambitions or major understandings that the Trump administration seeks to conclude in the region.

Trump Awaits Israel's Political Landscape

Diplomatic sources indicated that some Arab leaders have seen indications that Trump himself is beginning to become convinced that Netanyahu has become a burden that impedes the progress of regional arrangements, normalization projects, and a comprehensive settlement, especially in light of the continuation of the war and the multiplicity of fronts of regional confrontation from Gaza to Lebanon and Iran.

Editorial assessments showed that the close relationship that brought the two men together for years has seen clear cracks in recent months, with US and Israeli reports revealing tense phone calls in which the US president expressed his deep displeasure with Netanyahu's handling of sensitive security files, and warned him against taking uncalculated military steps that could torpedo Washington's diplomatic efforts.

In recent statements, Trump explained that despite his good relationship with the Israeli prime minister, he believes that Netanyahu should be "more rational," stressing that he is closely monitoring the developments of the internal Israeli political scene and opinion polls ahead of the Israeli elections scheduled for late next October, to know the political map and the competing candidates in full.

Upcoming summit under election pressure

The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth said that the US capital Washington is preparing to host an upcoming meeting between Trump and Netanyahu next Monday, although there has been no confirmed official announcement from the White House or the Israeli Prime Minister's Office about the exact date or place of the meeting.

The newspaper added that this meeting, if held, will be the eighth meeting between the two leaders since Trump's return to power in the White House, and will acquire great importance because it comes at a precise time when Netanyahu is striving to repair his alliance with the US president and use the meeting to boost his electoral chances, which are declining internally.

Political analysts stressed that any position or public statement that Trump may issue during the upcoming meeting will reflect directly and decisively on the course of Netanyahu's election campaign, making the Washington summit a pivotal stage to determine the future of the alliance between the current US administration and the Israeli leadership in the next stage.
