The Directorate of Water Resources in Raqqa Governorate continues to maintain and isolate irrigation networks and drains in several locations to improve the delivery of water to agricultural lands and ensure rainwater drainage.
The Ministry of Energy said in a statement that the works included the opening of the dam in the main Balikh Canal after the completion of the works at the Shinina site, which would allow irrigation of about 18,000 hectares of agricultural land.
The works also included the implementation of engineering treatments at the sites of Al-Muaizaila Bridge, Canal 17 and Al-Rajm Al-Abyad.
She indicated that the technical workshops carried out leveling works on the shoulders of the Al-Qahtaniyah Canal and its isolation with a length of 500 meters, in addition to carrying out excavations and treating cavities in the Al-Murtaha and Al-Mukhtar canals, and completing the leveling works on the shoulders of the Al-Balikh Canal for a distance of 2.5 km between Al-Muaizaila Bridge and Marouda.
The ministry added that the directorate has formed an emergency team to deal with water bottlenecks in the areas of Tishreen, Al-Halibin, Wadi Al-Fayd, Al-Mazyouna, Al-Khatouniya, and Al-Hasiyawa.
