Iranian missiles towards Israel. Tehran threatens Bab al-Mandeb

Powerful explosions sounded on Sunday evening, June 7, in the skies of southern Syria and the occupied Golan as a result of Israeli interceptions of missiles that Tel Aviv said were launched from Iran towards Israel, coinciding with the sound of sirens in the Golan and northern Jordan.

Residents in Quneitra   reported hearing violent explosions, likely the result of Israeli interceptions of rockets coming from the east, and explosions were also heard in Damascus, southern Syria and northern Jordan in conjunction with the rocket blasts.

The Israeli military said  it had detected several rocket bursts coming from Iran, pointing to explosions in the skies over Nazareth and Haifa as a result of interception attempts. Hours later, the army announced that a second batch had been detected, while Israeli media reported a third wave of rockets.

Israel's home front confirmed that sirens had been activated in several areas, while Reuters and Axios quoted Israeli sources as saying that Tel Aviv would respond to the Iranian attack.

Khamenei's adviser 'threatens' Bab al-Mandeb

Ali Akbar Velayati, advisor to the Iranian Supreme Leader for international affairs, said that "the stupidity of the Zionist entity in Beirut and its violation of the ceasefire activated the first episode of our response."

Velayati added, according to Iranian media, that the security enjoyed by Bab al-Mandab today should not push the enemy to miscalculate.

He pointed out that "the resistance has the ability to close the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait," threatening that "the enemy has two options: either stop its follies or enter into a balanced equation in the Straits of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandeb

Iran's Foreign Ministry warns against any 'adventure'

The Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that the attack on military targets in the north of the occupied territories came within the framework of the legitimate right of defense following the violations of the ceasefire.

A statement from the Foreign Ministry said that Lebanon is an integral part of the ceasefire understanding and Washington bears direct responsibility for Israel's violations, warning of "a comprehensive and firm response of our forces to any Israeli aggressive adventure against Lebanon and Iran."

In addition, a statement issued by  Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters said that "the Zionist entity has crossed all red lines with its attack on southern Lebanon and the southern suburbs."

"The Zionist entity must stop its attack on the southern suburbs and southern Lebanon," the  statement quoted  by Iranian media added, noting that it  had previously warned against attacking targets in the occupied territories in the event of an expansion of crimes in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
