US military denies bombing of two tankers in Hormuz
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that the announcement by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps about the explosion of two oil tankers after colliding with mines in the Strait of Hormuz is "a shameful claim".
"The IRGC claims that two oil tankers exploded in the Strait of Hormuz after they collided with mines in the international waterway, but the fact that this allegation, like most of the IRGC's claims, is untrue," CENTCOM said in a statement.
Earlier, the Iranian news agency quoted the IRGC as saying that two oil tankers were hit by an explosion and caught fire after trying to cross a mined path in the Strait of Hormuz.
A statement from the Revolutionary Guards confirmed that "the Strait of Hormuz has become very dangerous and completely closed due to the attacks of the US army."
"As long as the US aggressions continue, neither fertilizer nor any drop of oil and gas can be exported from the region," he said, calling on ships to refrain from entering the mine-laden route in the Strait of Hormuz in order to preserve their investments and the lives of their crews.
