In preparation for the operation of electric buses. Damascus Governorate will evacuate three transport lines from the Sarafis and diesel buses

The Damascus Governorate announced that the public transport lines (Muhajireen Sana), (Sumaria Karagat) and (Bab Touma Bridge of Freedom), on which electric buses will operate in the coming period, will be evacuated from the services and diesel buses, with the aim of regulating the movement of transportation and preventing interference between the different modes of transportation on the same route.

The governorate explained on its Telegram channel today that this measure comes within the plan to develop the transportation system within the city, provide a more comfortable and organized transportation service for citizens, in addition to supporting environmentally friendly means of transportation and reducing pollution.

The governorate indicated that the concerned authorities will work to reorganize the lines to ensure the smooth flow of movement and achieve the best level of service for passengers.

On March 4, the General Company for Internal Transport in Damascus announced that it would conduct a bid in the sealed envelope to serve a number of lines with 150  buses running on electricity for an investment period  of 10 years, where the governorate confirmed that it will not receive any investment returns from the winning bidder in order to provide better quality services and reduce the value of the tariff.
