Hurriyet: Turkey may lead the coordination of NATO forces in the event of a crisis

The Turkish newspaper "Hurriyet" quoted security sources as saying that in the event of a crisis, Turkey may coordinate NATO's ground forces and command the incoming NATO units.
Commenting on reports of the establishment of a multinational corps headquarters on Turkish territory, Handeh Firat, a columnist close to government circles, said: "Turkey's mission will not be limited to being the host party. In the event of a crisis, Turkey will coordinate the operations of NATO's ground forces and lead NATO troops arriving in Turkey."
Furat pointed out that the formation of a joint task force in the Black Sea, which will be responsible for maritime operations in the region, is also being discussed, and stressed that Ankara will play a pivotal role in this mechanism, saying, "Turkey will retain command and hosting tasks within this structure until at least 2028."
The journalist stressed that Turkey is not relinquishing its control over the Black Sea, and that this sea is not a "NATO lake," but that NATO's plans in the region will be implemented through Turkey.
According to Hurriyet, TurkYa "will become a center of NATO's command on its southern and eastern wings."
