Floods "close" the Albu Kamal border crossing between Syria and Iraq

This afternoon, the crossing through the Albu Kamal border crossing with Iraq was temporarily halted, due to the interruption of the roads leading to it due to the floods.

In a post on his Facebook page today, Mazen Alloush, director of relations at the Syrian General Authority for Ports and Customs, pointed out that the Suwaiiya bridge was out of service and the railway road was cut off towards the desert, which led to the inaccessibility of the port at the moment.

Alloush stressed that this measure "comes in order to ensure the safety of passengers and ensure their security, provided that work resumes as soon as the roads return to their readiness," calling on travelers to take note and follow up on the updates issued in this regard.

Earlier today, the Suwaiiyah dirt bridge in the countryside of Albu Kamal collapsed due to the flooding of the valley on which it falls due to heavy rains and floods that the area witnessed during the past two days.
