Fires in Najha and Al-Harjala with fragments of Iranian and Israeli missiles

A series of fires broke out in agricultural crops in the Damascus countryside and Daraa, after shrapnel and rocket debris fell caused by the Israeli air defenses intercepting Iranian missiles that were on their way to the occupied territories, according to official and local reports.

In the area of Najha, about 13 km south of Damascus, a huge fire broke out due to the remnants of an Iranian missile that was intercepted by Israeli air defenses in the skies of the area.

The Syrian Civil Defense said in a statement published on its official identifiers that the fall of the missile remnants led to the burning of the lands and agricultural fields in the area, coinciding with the fall of another missile in the Harjela area of the Kiswah district and caused a similar fire in the neighboring crops without any human injuries.

The Civil Defence added that its cadres and firefighters responded to the two fires and extinguished the fires before spreading to nearby areas.

In the city of Tafas in the western countryside of Daraa, large parts that are likely belonging to the fuel tank of one of the missiles fell in the plains near the residential areas, and the damage was limited to material items without causing any injuries.

These developments on the ground come in the context of the wave of missiles launched by Iran towards Israel, and the accompanying precautionary measures inside Syria, where the Civil Aviation Authority announced the suspension of operations and the temporary closure of Damascus International Airport to ensure the safety of air navigation.

The Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management issued urgent warnings to residents to stay away from any foreign objects or rocket debris falling on the ground, and to refrain from gathering or climbing to rooftops, to avoid the risk of flying shrapnel.

Israeli incursion into the village of Maariyya in the Yarmouk Basin

In a parallel context, on Monday, June 8, a military force affiliated with the Israeli occupation infiltrated the village of "Ma'riya", located in the area of the Yarmouk Basin in the western countryside of Daraa.

Local sources stated that "tanks and armored vehicles of the Israeli occupation stormed the outskirts of the village of Ma'riya, explaining that the occupation soldiers fired indiscriminately towards the agricultural fields surrounding the area during the field movements.

The sources reported that the occupation forces withdrew after a short time without receiving information about the registration of arrests among the residents.

Previous Violations

Yesterday, the Israeli occupation forces arrested 5 citizens, including young men  under the age of 18, during their incursion after midnight yesterday and Sunday in Quneitra.

Local sources reported that a patrol of the occupation army, supported by armored vehicles, penetrated deep into the town of Jabata Al-Khab, raided a number of houses, kidnapped 4 people, and took them to detention centers inside the occupied Syrian Golan without bringing them with official charges.

The same incursive force targeted the farm of Saida al-Hanout in a parallel axis in the southern countryside of Quneitra, where the patrol kidnapped a 17-year-old youth.

These attacks coincided with another incursion that took place less than 24 hours ago in the village of Abu Madara in the south of the governorate, during which the occupation army detained a young man for several hours.

Syria constantly demands the withdrawal of the occupying forces from its territory, stressing that all measures taken in the south are null and void and have no legal effect, while calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities and deter these violations.
