Fire at oil facilities in Bahrain and the UAE after drone attack

Bahrain's Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) announced on Sunday that a fire broke out at a petrochemical company caused by an Iranian drone attack was brought under control, while the UAE confirmed the suspension of work at a petrochemical plant following a similar attack.

The state-owned Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company said in a statement quoted by the country's official news agency that "a number of its operational units were attacked, in the early hours of Sunday morning, by Iranian drones following a sinful Iranian attack."

She added: "The attack resulted in the outbreak of a fire in those units, and the fire was completely controlled and extinguished, without any human injuries being recorded," and continued: "The specialized teams are currently working to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the damage caused by the incident and count it."

The attack is the second of its kind today targeting petrochemical facilities in the region, as the UAE authorities announced on Sunday the suspension of work at a petrochemical plant in the capital, Abu Dhabi, following fires that broke out there due to the fall of shrapnel following an aerial interception.

In its response to the US-Israeli aggression, Iran is targeting what it says are US interests in Arab countries, causing deaths and injuries and damage to civilian objects, which the targeted countries condemned.

Since February 28, the United States  and the Israeli occupation have been waging a war against Iran, which has resulted in thousands of Iranian deaths and injuries, while Tehran responds by firing missiles and drones towards Israel and Arab countries in the region.
