
FIFA President Gianni Infantino held a meeting with a delegation from the Syrian Football Federation, headed by the President of the Federation, Firas Tate, during which they discussed ways to support and develop the game in Syria, and rehabilitate its damaged sports facilities.
During the meeting, the Syrian delegation reviewed an integrated file highlighting the severe damage caused to sports facilities during the years of war, stressing the urgent need to support the International Federation in the rehabilitation of stadiums and infrastructures, as well as supporting the various joints of the game.
In this context, the president of the Syrian Federation extended an official invitation to Infantino to visit Syria.
For his part, Infantino stressed FIFA's keenness to provide full support to the Syrian Football Federation, in a way that contributes to the development of stadiums, the upgrading of local competitions, and attention to age groups.
The President of the International Federation of Football Federations announced his approval to start a special project to support Syrian football in the field of infrastructure, with full funding from FIFA.
The president of the International Federation also pledged to work to speed up the procedures for lifting the ban imposed on Syrian stadiums as soon as possible.
The meeting concluded by affirming Infantino's intention to accept the invitation and visit Syria in the coming period, specifically after the end of the 2026 World Cup, during which the foundation stone of the project is scheduled to be laid and officially announced.
The Syrian delegation included Firas, President of the International Federation, Mohamed Fadi Al-Dabbas, Vice President, and Mohamed Fadi Rabat, Secretary General, and the meeting was also attended by Matthias Grafström, Secretary General of FIFA, and Sanjeevan Balasingham, Director of the National Federations for the Asian and Oceania regions.

In a related context, the Syrian Football Association announced an upcoming friendly match for our first national football team, in which the "Belarus" team will face the "Belarus" team on June 5, 2026 in Belarus.
