Egypt sits on its final list for the 2026 World Cup

The technical staff of the Egyptian national football team, led by coach Hossam Hassan, settled on Saturday on its final list of 26 players, in preparation for participating in the 2026 World Cup finals.

The coach excluded one player from the initial list, Aktay Abdullah, the striker of the "Enbi" club, based on the friendly experience that the team had against Russia last Thursday, which ended with the victory of the Pharaohs with a goal scored by Mustafa Ziko.

The team's delegation is scheduled to head to the United States on Saturday evening, and the team will play its last friendly match against Brazil on June 6 in Ohio before the start of the tournament.

The Egyptian national team will begin its campaign in the 2026 World Cup with a strong confrontation against Belgium on June 15  at Lumen Field in the American city of Seattle, within Group G of the tournament.

The second match against New Zealand will be on June 22  at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, Canada, before concluding its group stage matches with a meeting with Iran on the 27th of the same month in Seattle.
