Deir Ezzor: Forecast of a bountiful wheat season with 63 thousand hectares of agricultural fuel oil subsidized

As the harvest date approaches, the concerned authorities in Deir Ezzor have started distributing subsidized agricultural fuel oil intended for irrigation of the wheat crop before the start of harvest, with the aim of working to increase the productivity of the crop, which is estimated to be large this season according to the province's agriculture.
Fuel Distribution Plan
In this context , the committee in charge of Deir Ezzor Governorate has started the distribution of subsidized agricultural fuel oil intended for irrigation of the wheat crop, under the direct supervision of the concerned authorities to ensure that the subsidy reaches its beneficiaries at the critical time of the season.
Engineer Ibrahim al-Arab, assistant director of agriculture in Deir Ezzor, explained in a statement to Syria News that the committee, which includes representatives of the Directorate of Agriculture, the Farmers' Union, and the Hydrocarbons Branch (SADCOP), conducted a careful study of the needs of the fields, where the required quantities were estimated at about 25 million liters.
The committee has adopted nominal lists for farmers and cooperative societies to ensure the organization of distribution through gas stations in the areas of (Al-Busayra, Muwaileh, Al-Ma'mal, Al-Sa'wa, and Al-Balaum), with the aim of completing the remaining three irrigations of the crop before the start of the harvest.
Government support and large areas
In a move aimed at reducing production costs, Al-Arab confirmed that the Ministry of Agriculture has approved the price of one liter at only 25 cents, pointing out that this subsidy targets areas planted with wheat up to 63 thousand hectares, which reflects the size of the government's bet on this strategic season.
"Al Jazeera" Season: A Leap in Space and Production
For his part, Eng. Abdel Hamid Al-Abdulhamid, head of the Department of Agricultural Affairs, described the 2026 season in a recent press statement as "herald", considering that the annexation of the fields of the liberated "Al-Jazira" region constituted a radical shift in the province's production capacity.
Al-Abdulhamid explained that the rate of implementation of the agricultural plan has increased to 70%, as the areas have reached about 63 thousand hectares, after they were previously limited to the lands of "Al-Shamiya" with areas that did not exceed 14,500 hectares.
He added that the heavy rainy season contributed to the recovery of crops, especially rainfed ones in the Jazira region, stressing that the rain floods did not cause any damage, as the limited areas that were flooded in the western countryside recovered rapidly.
Limited challenges and high expectations
Regarding the health status of the crop, the agricultural report revealed that the infestations of the "sauna" insect remained below the "economic threshold", as the affected areas did not exceed 4 thousand dunams, which is a small percentage that does not affect the total production.
As the "zero hour" approaches for harvests, the agricultural communities in Deir Ezzor are awaiting abundant production that will restore the province's position as one of the most important tributaries of the Syrian food basket, benefiting from the concerted security and field efforts and direct government support to farmers.
