The Governor of Daraa issued Decree No. 1988 prohibiting the sale or display of petroleum products through unlicensed stalls or points in the governorate, within the framework of regulating the hydrocarbons sector and limiting irregular practices in their trading.
Riyad Ahmed Al-Rukab, a member of the Executive Office of the Mineral Resources and Electricity Sector in the governorate, explained that the decision came against the backdrop of the recent domestic gas crisis and the cases of monopoly and sale outside the official channels, stressing that the current stage will focus on regulating and controlling the circulation of domestic gas and preventing its sale outside the approved channels to ensure the stability of the supply and the access of the material to its beneficiaries, and to reduce exploitation and high prices.
Al-Rakb pointed out that the concerned authorities will work to address the conditions of the violating shops and stalls gradually, taking into account the specificity of some areas where there are no regular gas stations, in order to ensure the continuation of service to citizens and that there is no shortage of supplies.
He stressed that these measures aim to regulate the market, protect citizens and ensure a fair distribution of petroleum products, calling on everyone to abide by the issued instructions and cooperate with the concerned authorities to achieve the public interest.
