
Damascus Stock Exchange: Trades exceed 8.5 million pounds in Monday's session

The Damascus Securities Exchange witnessed a remarkable recovery in trading values in the trading session on Monday, as the total proceeds exceeded the barrier of 8.5 million Syrian pounds.
This performance was driven by the execution of 143 transactions that included the exchange of more than 391 thousand shares, surpassing the trading values of the Sunday session, which stopped at 7.5 million pounds.
Positive Moves in the Banking and Industrial Sectors
The list of gains was topped by the shares of several banks, with the share of the National Credit Bank recording the largest jump by 3.28%, followed by the share of the Bank of Syria and the Overseas, which achieved a growth of 2.42% with heavy trading volume.
The gains also included Banque Bemo Saudi Fransi, the International Bank for Trade and Finance, in addition to the shares of Badia Cement Company, which closed at the level of 630 pounds.
Mixed declines of some stocks
On the other hand, the session was not without some declines, as the share of Fransabank Syria witnessed a decrease of almost the maximum allowed by 5.00%, while the share of Al Baraka Bank Syria recorded a decline of 2.07%, which reflected a state of variation in investors' appetite towards various banking stocks.
Calm and stability in other sectors
On the other hand, the shares of other major companies that did not witness any significant trading activity, most notably Syria International Islamic Bank and Sham Bank, in addition to insurance sector companies and MTN Syria, remained stable at their previous closing levels without any significant activity during the session.
It is noteworthy that the Damascus Securities Exchange closed the session on Sunday with 7.5 million Syrian pounds, distributed among 405032 shares, through 154 deals.
