Cracks in the Royal House. Alonso's dismissal and Arbeloa's appointment to lead the next phase

In a surprise move that ended an unfinished phase, Real Madrid announced the dismissal of coach Xabi Alonso hours after the team lost the Spanish Super Cup final to Barcelona, in a decision described within the club as a "technical necessity" to reset the team's trajectory ahead of the crucial part of the season.

Although Real Madrid's management was giving Alonso plenty of room to rebuild the team, the fluctuating performance in recent weeks, followed by a  3-2 defeat to Barcelona, prompted the management to make this quick decision.

Within the club, the feeling was that the team was not developing in a way that commensurate with the quality of the available elements, and that trust between the coach and the dressing room was gradually eroding, while sources close to the management stated that the discussion about Alonso's future began before the game, but the Super Cup loss made the decision "only a matter of time".

Arbeloa... A bet on the son of the club

The choice of Alvaro Arbeloa was not surprising within the club's corridors, as the former player, who knew the dressing room as a player and coach, enjoys the trust of the management and the club president in particular, and is seen as a voice capable of restoring discipline and fighting spirit to the team.

Arbeloa, who has led Castilla in the past period, has a strong relationship with academy players and a number of first-team stars, which made the management see him as an option capable of achieving a smooth transition without internal shocks.

Split on the Spanish sports street

The decision sparked a wave of controversy in the Spanish press, with some analysts saying that Alonso's dismissal was hasty, others believed that the club could no longer wait in light of the decline in performance and fluctuating results.

Fans were divided between those who believe the team needs a "positive shock" and those who believe Alonso deserved more time to build his artistic project.

Heavy challenges await the new coach

Arbeloa enters the next phase loaded with complex files, most notably:

- Restoring confidence to the team after the Super Loss.

- Dealing with first-row stars and resetting the tempo inside the dressing room.

- Maintaining opportunities to compete in the league and the Champions League.

- Establishing himself as a senior coach at a club that doesn't give much time to experimentation.

A New Beginning or a Risky Adventure?

The decision reflects a clear desire within the club to redirect the compass before it is too late, and while Arbeloa has the support of management, his success will depend on his ability to turn confidence into tangible results on the pitch, in a season that looks more complicated than ever.
