China has warned of the situation spiraling out of control in the Middle East and urged all parties to the conflict affecting the Strait of Hormuz to end military operations to avoid entering a "vicious cycle."
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian told a news conference on Monday that "if the war expands and the situation deteriorates further, the entire region may enter an out-of-control situation."
Gyan warned that the continued escalation of hostilities and the worsening of the situation would lead to chaos in the entire region, noting that "the use of force will only lead to entering a vicious circle," adding that "the war should not have started in the first place."
Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz after the massive military strikes by the United States and Israel on its territory that have been ongoing since February 28, leading to the near-complete disruption of international navigation, creating a global energy crisis and disruption in supply chains.
On Sunday, US President Donald Trump threatened to target Iran's energy facilities, giving Tehran 48 hours to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz to international traffic.
