Barcelona officially announce the signing  of English striker Gordon

Spanish football club Barcelona announced on Friday evening that it has officially signed English international Anthony Gordon, coming from Newcastle United, in a deal aimed at strengthening the Catalan team's attacking line in the coming seasons.

Gordon, 25, has signed a contract until the summer of 2031, marking the start of a new phase of his professional career at the Camp Nou, under German coach Hansi Flick.

Last season, Gordon made 46 appearances in various competitions for Newcastle, scoring 17 goals, including 10 in 12 Champions League games, which made him the focus of the attention of top European clubs before Barcelona sealed the deal in his favor.

Gordon joined Newcastle in January 2023 from Everton for £40 million, and has since made 152 appearances in a Maccabees shirt.

The player expressed his great pleasure to join Barcelona, saying: "To be here is a dream I have had since childhood. Winning the Champions League with this club will be very special, and I hope to achieve that in my first season."

He also revealed his conversation with coach Hansi Flick, noting that he is "an amazing coach and a great person", expressing his hope to achieve many titles with him.

Gordon confirmed that he is looking forward to playing alongside young star Lamine Yamal and the rest of the team's players, explaining that "playing with players of a high level makes you better."

"I feel a bit like Raphinha compared to the rest of the wings, and I will do everything I can to help the team with goals and assists."

Barcelona's moves in the transfer market

In addition to Gordon's deal, press reports revealed a full agreement between Barcelona and Argentine striker Julian Alvarez on the personal terms of the contract, with the management heading to Atletico Madrid to complete the deal in the coming hours, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Journalists Lungari and Santi Ona also indicated that Barcelona are about to officially finalize the deal for Bernardo Silva, with a two-year contract with the option to extend for an additional year, after coach Hansi Flick agreed to sign the Portuguese star, who considers joining Barcelona a personal dream for him.
