Barcelona defeats Getafe in Madrid and comes close to the Spanish side

Barcelona took a big step closer to being crowned the Spanish league title, after returning with a valuable victory from the Getafe Stadium "Coliseum" with two goals without reply, on Saturday evening, within the matches of the 33rd round.

Barcelona opened the scoring through Fermin Lopez in the first minute of first-half stoppage time, after receiving a wonderful cross  from Pedri from near the midfield, to single out the Getafe keeper and shoot a special ball into the net.

Lopez then celebrated in his teammate Lamine Yamal's own way, in order to support him in light of the recent injury he suffered against Celta Vigo that ended his season with the Catalan giants.

Substitute Marcus Rashford succeeded in killing the game by signing the second goal in the 74th minute, after receiving a special interception from Robert Lewandowski from the midfield, only to be singular to the Getafe keeper and successfully shoot into the net.

With this result, Barcelona strengthened its position at the top of the standings, after raising its score to 85 points, a full 11 points behind Real Madrid, taking advantage of the latter's stumble after its draw against Real Betis yesterday.

Barcelona are very close to successfully defending their title, with only five rounds left to go, and the title celebration could be a special flavour against rivals Real Madrid in next month's Clasico.

Getafe's tally is frozen at 44 points in sixth place and is in danger of losing its place in the Conference League next season, if Celta Vigo gets a positive result against Elche tomorrow.

Rashford is close to leaving Barcelona and returning to Manchester United

Barcelona have settled their position on the future of Marcus Rashford, who is on loan from Manchester United, after a volatile season in which the English striker failed to establish himself in the starting line-up, despite his acceptable start in the first half of the season when he reached ten goals before his return dropped dramatically and has only scored twice since January.

The financial factor was decisive in the decision, as Rashford's high salary and the €30 million purchase clause are a burden that does not fit Barcelona's priorities in the summer mercato, as the club seeks to sign an outspoken striker and a left-back. Coach Hansi Flick's choices in recent matches, and his reliance on Fermin Lopez and Gavi on the left flank during Raphinha's absence, have also confirmed the player's departure from the team's accounts.

All indications are that Rashford will return to Manchester United at the end of his loan in June, at a time when the Red Devils' management seems ready to give him up permanently after the two loan attempts at Aston Villa and then Barcelona, in an attempt to rearrange the team and open the door to new deals.

Despite his decline in recent years, Rashford's name has resurfaced in the transfer market after English reports of serious interest from Tottenham Hotspur in signing him, provided that the London team succeeds in avoiding relegation to the second division, a scenario that hangs over the club's disastrous season. If Spurs remain in the Premier League, the management plans to rebuild the team through quality deals, including Argentine defender Marcos Senesi, and Rashford could be part of the revival project.

Between returning to Old Trafford, moving to Tottenham or looking for a new destination, Rashford faces a pivotal summer that will set the course for his faltering career after being one of England's most promising talents just a few years ago.
