Arab League condemns Israeli blatant aggression on southern Syria

The Arab League on Saturday condemned the Israeli attack on military infrastructure in southern Syria, stressing that it falls within the framework of Israeli plans to destabilize Syria and target regional peace and security.

The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, said in a statement that the attack not only constitutes a blatant violation of Syria's sovereignty, but also aims to drag the entire region into confrontations that serve only Israel's interest in fueling conflicts and fueling wars and internal confrontations.

Aboul Gheit reiterated the Arab League's call on the Security Council to play its role in stopping the repeated attacks on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic and stopping Israel's incursions into Syria in clear violation of the 1974  Disengagement Agreement and obliging it to respect international law.

On Friday, the Israeli occupation carried out an aggression against military infrastructures in southern Syria, in the context of its continuous violations of the 1974 agreement, and its attempts to create chaos and tension and undermine security and stability in it, which sparked a wide wave of Arab condemnation.
