
Aoun: Negotiations with Israel will begin after the ceasefire is confirmed

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, during his meeting with parliamentary and political delegations, stressed that the first goal of the ongoing contacts is "to preserve the full Lebanese sovereignty", stressing that Lebanon's position is clear in the upcoming negotiations, "no compromise, no compromise and no surrender except for what achieves Lebanese sovereignty and the interest of all Lebanese".
Aoun outlined the constants of the Lebanese negotiating delegation with Israel on the most prominent points, including the complete cessation of Israeli aggressions, the achievement of a comprehensive Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory, the return of prisoners, the deployment of the Lebanese army to the international borders, and the launch of the reconstruction process of what was destroyed by the war.
Return of displaced people and international opportunity
President Aoun considered the return of the displaced to their villages with dignity a "top priority", pointing out that the support conveyed by US President Donald Trump, along with the support of brotherly countries, constitutes an "irreplaceable opportunity" to end the suffering of the Lebanese.
Aoun explained that Lebanon's ambassador to Washington, Nada Hamada Mouawad, will represent Lebanon at the US State Department's preparatory meeting to raise the issue of extending the ceasefire and stopping Israeli demolitions in the south.
Unity of the National Position and Political Consultation
The president stressed the importance of the unity of the Lebanese position to strengthen the negotiating team, pointing to his constant communication with Presidents Nabih Berri and Nawaf Salam and political leaders such as Walid Jumblatt.
He stressed that his choice to negotiate stems from realism and wisdom, because "past experiences have proven that wars only lead to destruction," calling on everyone to take responsibility because "everyone is in the same ship."
The civil ladder is a red line
In an extensive security meeting at Baabda Palace, President Aoun directed the strict implementation of security measures in the capital Beirut and various areas.
Aoun stressed the need to increase the number of military forces and full coordination between the agencies to ensure the interest of citizens and displaced people, stressing that "maintaining civil peace is a red line" and that no party is allowed to obstruct procedures or compromise stability.
Combating Weapons and Preventing Sedition
Aoun also directed to raid places that contain weapons depots based on intelligence information, stressing that "armed manifestations" will not be tolerated regardless of their source.
He pointed out that the state will spare no effort to end the anomalous situation, relying on national awareness as a key pillar to counter attempts to awaken strife at this critical stage in the country's history.
Contact of the Emir of Qatar
President Aoun received a phone call from the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, who affirmed his country's support for Lebanese steps to de-escalate the military escalation and direct negotiations that guarantee
For his part, President Aoun thanked Emir Tamim for the continuous Qatari assistance, especially directed to the relief of the displaced, and the two sides agreed to continue coordination to follow up on developments.
