A senior Iranian official said mediators had presented Tehran with a proposal to de-escalate the war with the United States that would provide for a 10-day ceasefire, with the aim of finding ways to revive the interim deal reached last month, as U.S. forces launched attacks on Iran for the ninth day in a row aimed at "undermining Iran's ability" to attack ships in vital shipping lanes.
In addition, Tehran announced that diplomatic contacts with Washington through intermediaries are still continuing, with Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei saying at a press conference: "We have been informed through mediators, and we have received messages, without going into details, but the important thing is that the diplomatic apparatus has been active in recent days, and ideas have been conveyed to us through some mediators."
U.S. military bombs Iran again
The US Central Command (CENTCOM), in a statement published on its official identifiers, said that its forces have started a new wave of attacks on Iran.
CENTCOM added that the strikes on Iran are aimed at further undermining the military capabilities used to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
The IRGC-affiliated Tasnim news agency reported that US missiles hit several Iranian cities on Monday evening, where explosions were heard in Tabriz, Jabahar, Konarak, Bandar Mahshahr and Bandar Khomeini, stressing that the US bombardment of the northwest of the country resulted in the death of at least one person and the injury of others.
The governor of the Iranian city of Bushehr said air defenses had been activated without any strikes on the city, according to Iranian media, adding that explosions from the sea were heard on Qeshm Island in the south of the country.
In turn, the Iranian news agency reported explosions in the cities of Chabahar and Kanark in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchistan, and Iran's ISNA news agency reported explosions in the city of Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island in the southern province of Hormozgan.
Iran's Mehr news agency said air defenses had been activated in the vicinity of the Bushehr nuclear power plant in the south of the country.
Trump vows Iran to pay 'double price'
US President Donald Trump has vowed Iran that it will pay "exponentially" for the death of every American soldier, and wrote in a post on the "Truth Social" platform, that "whenever Iran kills an American soldier, it will pay the price for this crime exponentially."
He noted that these directives were communicated to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Cain, along with "all commanders in the military."
On Saturday, the US military announced that two US soldiers were killed and a third went missing on Friday in Jordan, while responding to Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks.
At dawn on Monday, US President Donald Trump announced a very strong strike on Iran tonight in honor of the American soldiers who were killed, indicating that Iran has suffered too much damage and cannot possess a nuclear weapon.
Trump added that "Iran may have some missiles and drones, but not many," noting that "Washington is no longer just preventing the Iranians from acquiring certain capabilities, but is now ending this matter completely."
The U.S. Embassy in Manama warned that it had information indicating that Iran may seek to target unspecified locations in the center of the capital, Manama, and urged Americans there to be careful.
Within hours. Two attacks on two ships near the Strait of Hormuz
The UK's Maritime Trade Operations Authority reported that it had received a report of an accident that occurred eight nautical miles northeast of the Omani port of Lima.
The authority said it had received several reports that an oil tanker had been hit by an unknown projectile in the Strait of Hormuz, and advised ships to cross with caution and report any suspicious activity, according to Reuters.
Earlier, the Authority reported that a ship was involved in an accident east of the city of Dibba in the United Arab Emirates, explaining that the ship's captain reported that it was attacked by a projectile of unknown origin, which caused damage to the router.
It added that all the crew members of the ship were fine, while no further information had been released on who was responsible for the attack or the nature of the projectile used.
