Aleppo Governor Directs the Development of Public Transport and the Introduction of New Investment Lines

The Governor of Aleppo, Eng. Azzam Al-Gharib, chaired, on Monday, at the governorate building, a meeting of the Public Transport Committee, dedicated to discussing the reality of transportation and ways to organize it.

The meeting dealt with regulating the relationship between the concerned authorities in the sector, activating the role of the Investment Directorate in supporting transport-related projects, in addition to studying the introduction of new investment lines with the aim of expanding the network and improving connectivity between the city's areas.

The attendees also reviewed the most prominent ministerial proposals and decisions related to the sector and the mechanisms for their implementation in the governorate.

The meeting approved the formation of a technical committee to follow up on the files of the mass transport bus companies that were operating before 2011, to study their legal and regulatory status, in addition to preparing a vision of the internal structure of the General Transport Company.

The governor stressed the need to follow up on the outcomes of the meeting and develop clear implementation mechanisms that will reflect positively on the movement in the city of Aleppo.
