After Trump's announcement of talks. Official Lebanese silence as Israel continues its raids

Sources close to the Lebanese presidency confirmed that President Joseph Aoun will not issue any position before announcing a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, despite US President Donald Trump's announcement of upcoming Lebanese-Israeli talks between the "leaders of the two countries" for the first time in 34 years, while Israel continued its bombing of southern Lebanon.

Lebanese media reported a call between President Aoun   and told US Secretary of State Marco Rubio via phone that he would not speak to Israeli Prime Minister  Benjamin Netanyahu.

On Thursday morning, Lebanon time, Trump announced in a post on Truth Social that he was "trying to create a breathing space between Israel and Lebanon," adding that "it has been a long time since the two leaders spoke, some 34 years. It will happen tomorrow. Beautiful!".

The post has not accompanied any official Lebanese position, so far, at a time when the Lebanese president and Lebanese officials have remained silent without any comment even on the recent meeting in Washington between the Lebanese and Israeli ambassadors on Tuesday.

A senior Lebanese official told Reuters that Beirut was not aware of any call between Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The sources indicated that there was information on Wednesday about the possibility of announcing a ceasefire, after the meeting of the security cabinet, but this did not happen, perhaps because Israel "wants to continue the battle to achieve progress on the ground."

Second meeting between Lebanon and Israel

Lebanese sources confirmed that the meeting between Lebanese Ambassador Nada Hamadeh and Israeli Ambassador Yehiel Leiter, with the participation of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in Washington on Tuesday, was "good and frank and contained all the data, but in practice there was no answer about the ceasefire."

The sources spoke of "the possibility of holding a second meeting on Thursday evening, between the Lebanese and Israeli delegations to complete the discussion on only one item, which is a ceasefire at the request of President Aoun.

Field escalation

The Israeli warplanes continued their raids on villages and towns in southern Lebanon at a time when the occupation army issued  an ultimatum to the residents of the south of the Zahrani River to evacuate immediately and head to the north of the Zahrani River.

At dawn, the Israeli army raided the town of Al-Sarfand (Saida district), at a time when violent clashes were renewed in the morning, in the city of Bint Jbeil, between elements of "Hezbollah" and the Israeli forces, especially at the axis of the stadium, in which warplanes and helicopters participated, while the entrances to the city and the Al-Muhaniya axis are witnessing sporadic clashes, and Israeli forces also blew up houses at the entrance to the city's large market.

On Wednesday night, Israeli warplanes raided a commercial building in the vicinity of Tabnin Hospital, in the district of Tyre, and the director of the hospital, Mohammed Hammoud, reported that the raid on the vicinity of the hospital caused severe damage to the building.
