Tunisian artist Saber Rubai has settled the controversy and rumors that have recently spread about the possibility of his retirement from singing and stopping his artistic activity during the next phase.

Al-Rubai stressed that his previous statements were misunderstood and interpreted, stressing that he has not taken any decision to stay away from the music scene at the moment.

Clarifying the position of retirement and keenness on the artistic value

During media interviews on the sidelines of his participation in the opening of the 60th edition of the Carthage International Festival, Tunisian artist Saber Rubai explained that his talk about retirement was not related to an imminent step or a specific date during the coming year, but came as a philosophical proposition related to the future of any artist and his keenness to maintain his level and artistic value.

The quartet confirmed that he does not intend to stop singing for the time being, and will struggle to continue presenting the works and concerts that Tunisian and Arab audiences are used to.

Al-Rubai pointed out that the decision to retire remains a deferred option that is related to the moment when the artist feels that he is unable to give with the same quality and excellence, stressing respect for his extended career and artistic giving without being dragged behind the common explanations that considered his speech an announcement of his imminent retirement.

Celebrating 6 Decades of the  Carthage International Festival

Saber Al-Rubai expressed his great happiness and pride at the opening of the activities of  the 60th edition of the Carthage International Festival, describing standing on the stage of the archaeological stage as a great and historic responsibility.

The festival represents an exceptional cultural and artistic value in the national and Tunisian memory, he said, as the festival witnessed its first artistic launch in 1994.

The quartet led the opening musical evening, titled "Under Jasmine", evoking the most prominent milestones in Tunisian music, with the participation of a number of artistic figures such as the artist Lotfi Bouchenak and Cheb Khaled, amid a wide audience and interacted with a bouquet of his most famous songs, old and new.
