After 7 years of preparations. Details of  the animated film "Hello Kitty" revealed

The  Hollywood Reporter  has revealed that  the world-famous cartoon character "Hello Kitty" is preparing to make her debut on the big screen in the summer of 2028, specifically on July 21, after a long preparation and production journey that began in 2019.

The mega project is part of a strategic and historic partnership agreement between Japan's Sanryo Studios, New Line Cinemas and Flynn Pictures, to deliver an animated adventure worthy of the character's universal value.

Directing changes and the addition of the makers of "Moana 2"

The Hollywood Reporter  reported that  there has been a major overhaul of the film's creative crew, with David Derrick Jr. (co-director of the blockbuster film "Moana 2") and John Oshima (co-director of "Ultraman: Rising") officially directing the work.

According to the magazine,  the two new directors replace veteran Disney animator, Leo Matsuda (the creator of Zootopia and Big Hero 6), who was previously announced as the director of the project before the recent revisions.

Behind the scenes and the character's long history

Writer Jeff Chan continues to draft the current and latest version of the screenplay, following a series of previous drafts that have been produced by a number of notable writers such as Dana Fox, Katie Diebold, and Adam Steckel, while Robert Ben Garnett and Thomas Lennon have developed the basic dramatic treatment.

The film is the first official production license granted to a global studio to turn "Hello Kitty" and her cute friends into a Hollywood film, although the character was born in 1974 and has achieved sweeping popularity and billions of dollars as a prominent brand outside of her native Japan for more than half a century.
