A young man was wounded by the bullets of an Israeli patrol in the countryside of Daraa

A young man was wounded by the bullets  of an  Israeli  occupation army patrol that penetrated into the Wadi Al-Raqqad area in the west of Daraa governorate, on the afternoon of Sunday, May 31, 2026.

Local sources told "Syrian News" that an occupation patrol shot the young man, who is a resident of the village of Al-Basali in the southern countryside of Quneitra and works in sheep herding in Wadi Al-Raqqad, which led  to him being shot in the thigh and right arm.

The sources said that UNIFIL forces provided the necessary first aid to the injured  youth before transferring him to Nawa Hospital in Daraa governorate to complete treatment and receive medical care.

150 occupation soldiers infiltrate Maariyya in Daraa countryside

Local sources reported on Sunday morning that an Israeli force entered the village of Mariya in the area of the Yarmouk Basin, west of Daraa, and set up a checkpoint at the eastern entrance to the village, where they stopped and searched passers-by, vehicles and public transportation, before leaving the site.

The mayor of Maaria and Abdeen, Muwaffaq Mahmoud, told the state-run SANA news agency that four Israeli military vehicles carrying about 150 soldiers arrived on Sunday morning in the vicinity of the village of Maariyah and set up a checkpoint near the telephone exchange at the eastern entrance to the village, noting that they searched the passing cars and vehicles without receiving information about arrests or detention of people.

In the southern countryside of Quneitra, another Israeli force consisting of two military vehicles infiltrated the road between the village of Saida al-Golan and Mazra'at al-Basali, set up a temporary checkpoint during which it conducted searches of passers-by and then withdrew from the area.

More than 700 incursions of the Israeli occupation into Syria

The Israeli occupation army has carried out more than 700 security and military operations inside Syrian territory, since December 2024, in continuous violation of the disengagement agreement signed in 1974, according to a statistic issued by Golan FM radio, which is specialized in documenting Israeli violations in Syria.

According to the statistics, the occupation army abducted about 197 people from the areas of southern Syria, including civilians and children, while 43 detainees are still in arbitrary detention so far, amid the lack of any accurate information about the fate of a number of them.

A number of detainees were transferred to prisons inside the occupied Palestinian territories, while humanitarian organizations reported that some of them were held in Israeli military facilities, including Sde Timan and Katziot prisons in the Negev region.

Some of the detainees are under "complete blackout," as their whereabouts are unknown, especially those believed to be held in Israeli intelligence's northern military interrogation centers, which are not subject to clear legal oversight and are not allowed to be visited by humanitarian or human rights organizations.

Violations of the occupation in southern Syria

Earlier, the Sijil Center for Human Rights documented an escalation in violations by the Israeli occupation forces in southern Syria during the month of April 2026, where the total number of violations reached 254, being the second highest monthly toll since the beginning of the year after last March.

According to the report, the majority of these violations were concentrated in Quneitra governorate, which recorded 213 cases, in light of extensive military activity that included ground incursions, raids and the erection of checkpoints.

Daraa governorate came in second place with 32 violations, although the nature of operations in it was more serious, as it included shelling, incursions and intensive flying of aircraft, while in the Damascus countryside and Suwayda, the violations were mainly limited to flying planes.
