A presidential source denies the appointment of Maher al-Sharaa as head of the Syrian Development Organization

A source in the presidency of the republic denied the news to the newspaper "The Syrian Revolution" circulating about the appointment of Maher al-Sharaa as chairman of the board of directors of the Syrian Development Organization.

The newspaper published the news of the denial on its official pages and identifiers on Friday evening, May 8, 2026, after news circulated about the appointment of Maher al-Shara as head of the  "Syrian Development Organization" (formerly the Syrian Trust for Development).

The source did not address the news circulating about the dismissal of Maher al-Shara from his position as secretary-general of the presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic.

During the past few hours, news has spread that informed Syrian sources  have been relieved of Maher al-Sharaa from his position as secretary-general of the presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic and the appointment of the governor of Homs, Abdul Rahman al-Aami, in his place.

 These sources stated that the blind man started his new job today, Friday, May 8, 2026, while Maher Al-Shara left his position amid news of his candidacy to take over

For the past few days, there has been talk in Syrian circles about changes in the positions of the governors of Deir Ezzor, Latakia and Homs, and according to what has been circulated, Brigadier General Ziad Fawaz Al-Ayesh is a candidate to assume the position of governor of Deir Ezzor, succeeding the current governor, while there is also talk of a possible change in the position of the governor of Latakia Ahmed Mustafa, who hails from the city of Latakia, in addition to the appointment of Marhaf al-Naasan as the governor of Homs.
