5 injured in the explosion of an explosive device on a bus in Al-Woroud neighborhood in Damascus

 5 civilians  were injured when an explosive device exploded inside a passenger bus "Microbus" in the Al-Woroud neighborhood on the northwestern outskirts of the capital Damascus.

A source inside the neighborhood told "Syrian News" that a powerful explosion shook the neighborhood on Sunday afternoon, May 10, due to the explosion of an explosive device planted inside a passenger bus while it was in the center of the neighborhood.

The source added that the explosion caused the almost complete destruction of the bus and caused injuries among civilians, noting that the bus was parked in the neighborhood hours before the explosion.

The state-run SANA news agency reported that "5 civilians were killed in the explosion of an empty bus in the Al-Woroud neighborhood of Damascus, where they were transferred to Al-Mouwasat Hospital to provide them with the necessary aid," without specifying the cause of the explosion.

SANA quoted Amer Zarifeh, commander of operations at the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management in the Damascus countryside, as saying, "The Civil Defense teams responded to the report of the explosion in the neighborhood, worked to remove the effects of the explosion, fully secure the site to ensure public safety, and rescue the injured and transfer them to Al-Mouwasat Hospital  to receive the necessary aid."

In turn, the Syrian "Al-Ekhbariya" channel reported that the bus that was exposed to the explosion was empty, and the specialized teams are working to determine its causes, without indicating any human or material losses.

Local news platforms circulated video recordings on social media showing the effects of the explosion  inside  the neighborhood adjacent to the Damr and Qudsiya areas, noting that the car was empty at the time of the explosion, which prevented any loss of life, while some passers-by were injured, in addition to some shops near the site of the explosion suffered material damage.
