U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the memorandum of understanding with Iran has been fully signed, and that its text will be published "sometime after Friday," without specifying a date.
During his meeting with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, on the sidelines of his attendance at the G7 summit in the French city of Evian, Trump added: "I want to publish it because it is a very powerful document."
"It's a very strong document and I would like to publish it, so it will probably be very soon, maybe sometime after Friday."
Trump: Strait of Hormuz to fully open Friday
Trump explained that the agreement with Iran was "fully signed" and that the Strait of Hormuz would be "fully opened" on Friday, pointing out that his vice president, J.D. Vance, would attend the signing ceremony of the agreement with Iran.
On Sunday, the United States, Iran and Pakistani mediation announced that Washington and Tehran had reached an agreement on a memorandum of understanding to end the war that Washington and Tel Aviv started on Tehran on February 28.
While Trump announced on Sunday that his country and Iran had already signed the deal and that the Strait of Hormuz would be "fully open" starting Friday, Tehran said only that the signing of the memorandum would take place in the Swiss city of Geneva on Friday.
According to observers, the pre-signing appears to be an immediate and temporary activation of the ceasefire and the lifting of the naval blockade on Iran, while Geneva will witness the public in-person signing ceremony, the official publication and the inauguration of the 60-day phase of thorny technical negotiations.
Netanyahu: We will not withdraw from Lebanon and Washington knows this
In his first comment on the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he did not yet have the details of the agreement announced by Washington and Tehran to end the war, while stressing his adherence to the presence of Israeli forces inside Lebanese areas that Tel Aviv describes as "security."
During a press conference on Monday evening, Netanyahu explained that Israel had "established high-security zones around the borders in Gaza, Lebanon and Syria," adding that the army would remain in those areas "as long as necessary to protect the country."
"Iran wanted Israel to withdraw from Lebanon, but that did not happen," Netanyahu said, adding that "American friends respect this position."
Netanyahu hints at differences with Trump
Regarding the U.S.-Iran deal, Netanyahu said, "We don't yet know what the agreement between Washington and Tehran will be," but stressed that Israel "will not allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon, neither today nor tomorrow."
Netanyahu boasted of a series of previous military operations against Iran, saying Israel had "removed the threat of annihilation" through the "largest campaign of airstrikes" and operations targeting Iranian nuclear facilities and commanders.
When asked about the objectives of Israel's "Roar of Assad" operation last February , Netanyahu denied that he had misjudged, saying, "Who said I was wrong? I did not say that the overthrow of the regime was a goal of the war."
Regarding his relationship with US President Donald Trump, Netanyahu acknowledged that there are "sometimes differences of view" but stressed the need to "uphold Israel's security interests wisely," noting the need to build "new alliances in the region and beyond."
