An atmosphere of euphoria and satisfaction prevailed in international financial markets on Monday, June 15, immediately after the official announcement of the framework agreement between Iran and the United States to end the war in the Middle East.

The announcement of the resumption of commercial navigation in the Strait of Hormuz led to an automatic and immediate drop in the price of a barrel of Brent crude, which fell by more than 4% before the opening of the trading session, easing the sharp gains recorded by crude during the months of confrontations.

Madrid Stock Exchange Breaks Records

In the stock markets, the Spanish stock exchange opened its session as one of the most prominent trading on Monday, as its main index "IBEX 35" managed to break all resistance levels and come close to hitting a new historical record.

The index managed to surpass the threshold of 19,000 points to reach 19,122 points, accumulating a strong recovery of nearly 10% since the beginning of this year, benefiting from the return of investors' risk appetite following the geopolitical détente.

According to the data of the Spanish Stock Exchange published by European media, at the opening of the session, major Spanish sectors and companies shared the leadership of the wave of the upward wave as follows:

The tourism and airline sectors recorded sharp gains, driven by lower fuel prices and the return of stability that bolstered the outlook for the summer season, as IAG (the parent group of "Iberia" and "Vueling") rose close to 5%, along with the rise of shares of "Meliá Hotels" and "Amadeus".

In the banking sector, major banks were the main driver of the index benefiting from the decline in recession risks, as Banco Santander rose by 3.48%, BBVA Bank by 3.14%, and Caixabank increased by 1.18%.

Industrial, consumer, telecommunications and energy companies, where lower energy and logistics costs contributed to easing pressure on corporate margins, as "Inditex" rose by 2.07%, "Telefónica" by 0.68%, and "Iberdrola" by 0.30% at the opening of the session.

Europe joins the Green Wave

This positive atmosphere was not limited to Madrid, but the optimism of the markets was transmitted and repeated in the rest of the stock markets of the old continent.

Major European indices opened the session higher, with the DAX index in Frankfurt, the CAC 40 index in Paris, and the Euro Stoxx 50 index recording strong gains and collective gains at the start of trading.

The green opening came as investors celebrated the end of the regional military threat that threatened to curb global economic growth abruptly and dramatically in the second half of this year, and the bilateral agreement restored confidence in the stability of supply chains and international growth rates.
