The Ministry of Economy and Industry announced that the quantities of local wheat received during the month of June 2026 exceeded the barrier of 1.4 million tons, after the implementation of 67916 deliveries in various governorates.
The Ministry published data showing that the current season is characterized by clear logistical and organizational efficiency in supply, payment and transportation operations, which made it close to achieving the government's targets in full.
As of the end of June 2026, the total quantities received from local wheat reached 1,244,682 tons, a figure that reflects the ability of national production to cover basic needs and reduce dependence on foreign imports in hard currency.
The record for the season added 67,916 direct deliveries from farmers to the silos of the General Grains Corporation, reflecting a clear flow of crop movement across the governorates, and extensive cooperation between farmers and government institutions.
Al-Hasakah leads the scene
Al-Hasakah topped the rest of the governorates in terms of the quantities of wheat marketed to the receiving centers, with a total of 521218 tons, followed by Raqqa with219937 tons, then Aleppo with155,360 tons and Hama with 123,350 tons, so that these four governorates constitute about 82% of the total quantities received during the month of June.
The head of the Central Committee for the Follow-up of the Wheat Marketing Season, Abdul Wahab Al-Safar, stated on June 26 that the total quantities received so far amounted to about 860,000 tons, of which about 300,000 tons were in Al-Hasakah province, thus increasing the quantities during the last days of the month by more than 384,000 tons, according to official data issued later.
Al-Safar pointed out that the continuation of the opening of new receiving centers and the coordination of crop transfers between centers and silos in order to absorb the incoming quantities, in addition to taking control measures against a number of officials against the background of violations related to marketing operations, according to the ministry.
The announcement of these results comes in light of the government's reliance on the purchase of local production to enhance wheat stocks and secure the needs of mills, while marketing operations are still ongoing in a number of governorates with the completion of the season's harvest.
Factors that help to increase the quantities of wheat received
Economic reports said that the speed of the payment of dues played a pivotal role in the success of the season, as the new local currency payment system, in addition to the ban on foreign currency transactions, allowed the disbursement of crop values within just 48 hours from the date of delivery, which boosted farmers' confidence and encouraged them to increase the quantities delivered.
The reports indicated that climatic conditions played a key role in this success, as regular winter rains in agricultural stability areas contributed to raising the quality of the crop and increasing production, not to mention the role of the Ministry of Energy's decision to reduce the prices of diesel and gasoline in reducing the costs of harvesting, transportation and logistics, which eased the financial burden on farmers and raised their profit margins.
In addition, security facilities and the opening of land crossings between the governorates played an important role in ensuring unhindered access of grain trucks to the main silos, which enhanced the stability of transportation and storage operations, and the security of the timely and safe arrival of the crop.
