Quadrilateral alliance in Beirut to overthrow the "framework agreement" in parliament, and Washington plans to deploy troops in the south

The Lebanese newspaper "Nidaa al-Watan" revealed that  both the Amal Movement and Hezbollah are studying a package of constitutional and political options to transfer the battle to the House of Representatives, with the aim of putting the tripartite framework agreement between Lebanon, Israel and the United States recently signed in Washington to a vote and dropping it on parliament because it loses its political and constitutional cover.

According to the newspaper, this trend goes beyond the duo to expand towards a wider political intersection, where coordination is being made with the former head of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, in parallel with intensive contacts with the head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Gebran Bassil, to persuade him to join this track.

U.S. Surveillance Forces

The Washington Post quoted a US official as saying that the United States will play a direct role in monitoring the movements of the Lebanese and Israeli armies by deploying US troops on the ground in the two countries, explaining that these forces have been there for monitoring since the 2024 agreement and will monitor violations to enable the political leadership to exert pressure, provided that US Central Command (CENTCOM) officials report directly to the Trump administration.

The Lebanese Presidency announced that President Joseph Aoun discussed with the Commander of the US Central Command, Admiral Brad Cooper, preparations for the start of the implementation of the framework agreement based in Washington, stressing the state's determination to extend its authority through its armed forces up to the southern border, while the Lebanese Army Command explained that the Commander of the Lebanese Army, General Rudolph Heikal, discussed with Cooper the mechanisms for the implementation of the security annex and the appreciation of US support for Lebanon's stability.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported via the "X" platform that Admiral Cooper discussed in Beirut ways to move forward with the implementation of the historic framework agreement, in conjunction with a statement by the US Embassy in Beirut in which it stressed that the agreement sets a realistic path out of the conflict and establishes a clear process aimed at restoring Lebanon's sovereignty and disarming Hezbollah.

Israel renews its refusal to withdraw from Lebanon and Syria

Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz confirmed that there is a difference and clash in positions, announcing that he had agreed with the CENTCOM commander not to withdraw from the security zones in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza.

Katz asserted that there would be no further withdrawal after the two pilot zones in southern Lebanon until Hezbollah was completely disarmed.
