Israeli Minister of War Israel Katz confirmed that Israel will not withdraw from the areas it occupies in Syria, Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, stressing that the Israeli army will continue to work in what he described as "security zones" on various fronts.

Katz said on Saturday, June 13, that Israel's security doctrine is based on confronting near and distant threats and achieving decisive results, considering that Israel no longer accepts policies of compromises or security concessions.

The Israeli minister stressed that the October 7 attacks marked a turning point in Israeli security thinking, stressing that Tel Aviv has learned lessons from those events, and that it will continue to maintain military sites that it deems necessary to protect its national security.

These statements indicate an Israeli approach based on consolidating the military occupation in the areas it controlled during the war and treating them as advanced lines of defense.

Iran negotiations in the background

Katz's remarks coincided with signs of progress in negotiations between the United States and Iran, after Pakistan announced that a memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran had been finalized.

In this context, the Israeli Minister of War stressed that his country supports any effort to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, but reserves its right to act unilaterally if necessary, noting that any agreement with Tehran must also include Iran's missile program and support for armed groups in the region.

Israel has been occupying parts of southern Lebanon, Syria's Jabal al-Sheikh and large parts of the Gaza Strip for months, and considers this occupation part of a new security strategy based on preventing any threats to its borders.

On the other hand, regional and international parties believe that any sustainable settlement in the region requires addressing the files of occupation and military withdrawal, which makes the future of these areas one of the most prominent points of contention in any future political arrangements.

New Israeli incursion into Daraa and Quneitra

Local Syrian sources reported that the Israeli occupation forces penetrated on Saturday morning in Wadi Ma'ariyya, west of Daraa, and opened fire on farmers.

The sources indicated that the Israeli occupation forces infiltrated on Friday evening in the town of Koudna in the southern countryside of Quneitra in Syria, and carried out searches of a number of houses, as part of the repeated violations of the occupation.

The sources reported that Israeli forces entered the town and conducted field searches of houses, and there have been no reports of arrests so far, and there has been no official comment from the authorities in Damascus on the incident.

The southern areas of Syria, in particular, are witnessing almost daily Israeli violations in various forms, including aerial bombardments, ground incursions, and the erection of military checkpoints, in addition to raiding homes and arresting civilians, including children and sheep herders.

The Israeli army has begun to implement an unprecedented military step in decades, by creating and constructing new sites and fortifications along the eastern border with Jordan, especially in the Wadi Araba area and areas adjacent to the common land border.

Israel Creates Military Posts Off Jordan's Border

Israeli media confirmed the establishment of several military sites on the border between occupied Palestine and Jordan in the buffer zone between the fence and the Jordan River for the first time in decades.

The Israeli Army Radio pointed out that the step is unusual, and the sites are managed by groups of soldiers, indicating that Israel built a fence west of the Jordan River, in the 1970s, to establish a military zone, and most of the military sites operating in the area were closed after the Wadi Araba agreement with Jordan.

According to media reports, the Israeli moves included the construction of advanced observation towers, the digging of trenches and earthen berms, and the installation of checkpoints equipped with electronic monitoring systems and thermal cameras, as part of tightening control over the border strip and preventing infiltration and smuggling, which Israel says has seen a recent increase.

Western diplomatic sources considered that this military deployment represents a remarkable shift in Israel's security doctrine towards the Jordanian border, which for years has been classified as a stable and calm "border of peace" compared to the rest of the fronts.
