A security source denies the existence  of military mobilizations on the border with Lebanon

Syrian military and security sources confirmed that the reports circulating about the presence  of unusual military build-up on the Syrian-Lebanese border are not true, stressing that the situation on the ground is "normal and routine" and has not witnessed any exceptional changes.

A Syrian security source explained  that the deployment of the Syrian army in those areas is part of the usual tasks to control the borders and combat smuggling, categorically denying what has been circulated about extensive movements of vehicles and tanks towards border villages such as Qusayr, Qalamoun and the countryside of Tartous.

This denial came in response to reports published by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and videos circulating on social media platforms, which later turned out to be old and misleading, as they date back to a precautionary deployment carried out by the Syrian army on the Syrian-Iraqi border last February , and have nothing to do with the Lebanese border.

No official statement has been issued by the Syrian or Lebanese Defense Ministries at the time of publication.

The Observatory talks about the transfer of weapons and military vehicles to border sites

  Earlier today, the  Manchester-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported the  presence of military movements and the redeployment of Syrian forces in a number of border areas extending from the western countryside of Homs to Qalamoun and the countryside of Tartous, in conjunction with the transfer of weapons and military vehicles to sites adjacent to the Lebanese border.

According to the  information circulating in the western countryside of Homs, these military build-ups were concentrated, especially in the villages of Al-Nizariya, Hawik and Fadhiliyah in the Al-Qusayr region, which are close to the Lebanese border with the areas of Hermel and Akkar, in addition to the areas of Tal Kalakh and the villages adjacent to the border.

 The  movements extended to the village of Tal Wawa and the village of Dakika in the countryside of Safita in Tartous province, as well as deployment and reinforcements in the Zabadani plain and Madaya in the western countryside of Damascus and the mountains of Qalamoun extending between Nabak, Yabroud, Qara, Flita and Jarajir, up to the areas opposite the Baalbek-Hermel area,  the  Observatory said.

President Al-Shara: Development is our choice, not entering into new wars and conflicts

 This security denial is in line with the statements of President Ahmed al-Shara, who stressed a few days ago that the rumors about Syria's intention to intervene militarily in Lebanon are "totally and in detail incorrect", stressing Damascus' desire to build relations based on trust and mutual respect to maintain the stability of the vital corridor between the two countries.

In an interview with  Al-Mashhad TV, President Al-Sharaa touched on the statements attributed to US President Donald Trump regarding the possibility of Washington relying on Syria in the file of "Hezbollah" weapons, stressing that those statements were misinterpreted.

He explained that the intention is to support the path of peace and stability in Lebanon, not any Syrian military intervention, adding that Syria rejects a repeat of past experiences and seeks to encourage all Lebanese forces, including Hezbollah, to seek solutions that ensure the security and stability of the country.

In response to a question about the possibility of Damascus becoming a platform to receive Hezbollah's opponents, al-Shara stressed that Syria does not want to increase polarization inside Lebanon, adding, "Syria has paid a heavy price for wars and divisions, and it does not wish Lebanon to live the same experience," noting that the new Syrian role is based on opening channels for dialogue and strengthening cooperation, not creating axes.

At the end of the interview, Al-Sharaa addressed a message to the Lebanese, saying that Syria only wants the good for Lebanon and its people, and that Syria's choice is development, reconstruction and healing wounds, not entering into new wars and conflicts.
